1. Introduction

PetDetail, LLC ("PetDetail," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use our mobile app, web app, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using PetDetail, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

A. Personal Information

We collect personal details you provide: name, email address, phone number, mailing/billing address, emergency contact information; payment information for mobile subscriptions is processed by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. PetDetail does not receive or store your payment card information for those purchases; and user location (via manual entry or device location settings, if enabled).

B. Pet Information

We store pet-specific data: pet name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, weight history, color/markings, veterinarian/clinic and provider details, health logs (vet visits, vaccinations, medications, surgeries, allergies, weight events), daily journal entries (meals, walks, activities, notes) and streak metrics, reminders and reminder history, behavioral notes, photos and videos, uploaded documents (PDF, JPG, PNG), and data used for AI analysis (Premium subscribers only).

C. Technical & Usage Information

When you use the Service, we automatically collect: device type and operating system, browser type and version, IP address, usage analytics (pages visited, buttons clicked, time spent in app), error and performance data for debugging (via Sentry), basic cookies for app functionality, and — if you install the iOS or Android app and grant notification permission — a mobile push notification token and related device identifier used by OneSignal to deliver push notifications.

D. Security & Audit Information

To protect your account we maintain limited security logs: failed login attempts, account lockouts, password changes, subscription changes, and access attempts to sensitive resources. These records are used only for security monitoring and abuse prevention and are retained for up to 90 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

Manage subscriptions and subscription status through Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat
Deliver reminders and account notifications via email (Postmark)
Deliver mobile push notifications for reminders and account events on iOS and Android (via OneSignal)
Generate pet-specific analytics and AI-powered insights (Premium only) via OpenAI services; certain AI image features (e.g., background removal) run locally in your browser. AI-generated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
Monitor and improve app performance and fix errors (via Sentry)
Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms; prevent fraud and abuse
Send marketing communications with your consent (you can opt out anytime)

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted providers only as necessary to operate the Service: Supabase (hosting, database, auth, storage), Apple and Google (App Store / Google Play billing for mobile subscriptions), RevenueCat (mobile subscription receipt validation and entitlement management), Postmark (email delivery), OneSignal (mobile push notification delivery on iOS and Android), Sentry (error tracking and performance monitoring), and OpenAI (AI Health Insights for Premium subscribers). Certain AI features are performed locally in your browser using models obtained from Hugging Face; for these features, your images are not uploaded to third-party AI inference services.

5. User Rights & Controls

You have the right to: Access – Download/export your personal and pet data, including PDF health reports for individual pets (Premium). Basic Plan users may export their account data one time. Premium subscribers may export their data without this limitation; Correction – Update incorrect or outdated information in-app; Deletion – Delete your account or any individual item (pets, documents, photos, journal entries, reminders, etc.); deleted data is removed from our active production systems immediately, cannot be recovered through the application, and backup copies may temporarily remain in disaster recovery systems and are automatically removed according to normal retention schedules. Records required by law may be retained for as long as legally required. A confirmation email is sent for account deletion; Marketing Opt-Out – Unsubscribe via email link or toggle in settings.

6. Data Security

We protect your information by: encrypting data in transit (HTTPS/SSL) and at rest (Supabase encryption); enforcing row-level security on user data; restricting access to admins and core development team; monitoring for unauthorized access; and notifying affected users of qualifying data breaches when required by applicable law.

7. Data Retention

Active accounts: data is retained until you delete it. Any item you delete — and your entire account if you choose to delete it — is removed from our active production systems immediately and cannot be recovered through the application. Backup copies may temporarily remain in disaster recovery systems and are automatically removed according to standard retention schedules. Records we are legally required to retain may be kept as required by applicable law. Security audit logs are retained for up to 90 days.

8. Service Availability

We aim to maintain high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance may result in temporary downtime, which will be scheduled during off-peak hours when possible.

9. Children's Privacy

PetDetail is intended for users 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17, and — in line with COPPA — we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under the applicable age, we will delete it immediately.

10. State & Provincial Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to request: the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected; deletion of their personal information; opt-out of the sale/sharing of personal information (PetDetail does not sell your data).

Canadian Residents (PIPEDA) have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about them and to withdraw consent for its collection, use, or disclosure (subject to legal or contractual restrictions). You may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. PetDetail remains accountable for personal information transferred to our U.S.-based service providers (including Supabase, Postmark, OneSignal, Sentry, OpenAI, and RevenueCat) and requires comparable protections through contractual safeguards.

Quebec Residents (Law 25) have additional rights to: access, rectify, and delete their personal information; receive computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format (data portability); and be informed if a decision affecting them is made exclusively on the basis of automated processing. Cross-Border Transfer Notice: Personal information of Canadian users is processed and stored in the United States by our service providers and is therefore subject to U.S. law, including lawful access requests by U.S. governmental authorities.

11. International Users

PetDetail currently serves users in the United States and Canada only. Personal information is processed and stored in the United States by our service providers. We do not currently offer the Service in other jurisdictions.

12. Cookies & Tracking

PetDetail uses essential cookies for app functionality and local storage for custom analytics to improve your experience. We also use Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect Service functionality.

On our iOS and Android apps, OneSignal uses a device push notification token (not a browser cookie) to deliver reminders and account-related push notifications. You can revoke push notification permission at any time in your device's system settings, which will stop OneSignal from sending push notifications to that device.

13. Dispute Resolution

Privacy-related disputes will be resolved through the dispute resolution procedures outlined in our Terms of Use. Applicable law is governed by Florida state law. Canadian users retain any non-waivable rights under applicable federal and provincial privacy and consumer-protection laws.
